Deficits Fall, Revenues Increase, and Demand for Gold

The World is Unfolding as Expected

All be well.

Deficit is Reducing

The Obama administration just released its latest numbers and projects that the federal budget deficit will drop to the lowest level in five years, $759 B for the year ending Sept. 30, as the economy improves and tax collections increase. As we have repeatedly commented, the next economic boom is slowly taking shape.

Chinese Economy Seems Stable

Chinese economic numbers showed CPI a bit higher than expected at 2.7% but PPI lower – so manufacturing sectors are holding in but still facing some headwinds.

Gold is Holding Up

Societe Generale is generally bearish on bullion, but expects the decade-long bull market in commodities to extend for a further 15 to
20 years, driven by rapid urbanization and growing population in countries including China and India. A number of commentators have had bullish views on gold recently for the basic reasons that demand is increasing from the uncreased numbers of people worldwide in better economic circumstances, while the current market price of gold is getting dangerously close to the cost of producing gold from mines.

We believe that the commodities market has not run its course. Previous commodity cycles have run much longer, and this one has legs to go.
